It’s not quite spring, but it felt like spring to me. It rained a little in the morning and it was fairly dull and dark, but all was bright at the Wild Pheasant Hotel Llangollen. It was busy busy busy, with Becky and Greig’s family and friends milling around, getting ready and doing the various other things that people do on the morning of a wedding. Becky and Greig were calm though. The people were lovely, especially the mums of the bride and groom. The afternoon cleared into fine winter sunshine and Becky and Greig were happy to try pretty much anything I suggested to them and we had an amazing time. I think you’ll agree that they both looked amazing. Thank you guys for asking me to photograph your wedding. I had a fast paced but amazing day.
I had fantastic time with the amazing Claire and Toby today on their pre-wedding shoot. It was really cold and the wind was fairly gusty so we abandoned the idea of a walk on the beach (at sunny Rhyl) and took shelter at Rhyl Yacht Club with the kind permission of one of the members (a big thank you). Claire and Toby will be married at Oriel House on 13 August this year but given that they live so far away, the only practical day to meet up for the pre-wedding was today. Guys, you looked amazing and your energy and sense of humour was most welcome on a day like this. I’m looking forward to your wedding …
Here are a few of the images from today:

A big congratulations to the lovely Lowri & Kevin who will be married on 22nd October, 2011 at St Matthews Church, Buckley, and will have their reception at Northop Hall. It was pleasure to meet you both this evening and I’m really looking forward to your wedding.
Congratulations to Kate and Chris who will be married at St Mark’s Church Connah’s Quay and will have their reception at Crabwall Manor Hotel Chester. A lovely couple and and fantastic locations … I’m very much looking forward to your wedding.
I swear there were times when the rain seemed to fall horizontally. It was really cold and it was certainly very wet, and this was echoed somewhat by the recital of the Christmas carol ‘In the bleak midwinter’ by one of the little bride’s maids. But there was nothing bleak about Laura and Rich’s wedding. This may seem like an understatement, but Laura and Rich are two of the nicest people. They come across as two of life’s good guys. From what I could see, Laura is a bright, sociable and good looking person, and Rich, a good looking chap who is every bit a gentleman. They say that ‘like attracts like’ and this seems to be the case for Laura and Rich in terms of their friends and family – lovely people. No, the rain didn’t dampen the atmosphere which was fantastic. Laura and Rich, you both looked stunning and I loved every minute of your wedding (and of course, I’d love to hear more about ‘fireman incident No 1’ and ‘Fireman Incident No 2’).
For some, it was just another cold December’s day, but not for those who attended Gina and Chris’ wedding at Ruthin Castle. I’m not just talking about the mild weather, but the warmth and the kindness of the people I met. It’s obvious that Gina and Chris were just made for each other; it’s obvious that their friends and family love them very much. It was a small wedding but one with a big heart. Gina and Chris are a lovely couple. Thank you for asking me to photograph your wedding. It was a privilage mixing with such lovely people. You looked amazing!

I regularly put my pictures up for critique by other photographers, on various forums, flickr, and the like. It’s good practice because although you the public may like my pictures, that doesn’t mean that they are technically good so I was pleased to find that I won a Silver and a Bronze in the SWPP monthly competition for November.
I am proud to be a member of the SWPP (the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers). Rather than write about them, I’ll directly quote what the SWPP write about themselves:
Why Choose an SWPP member

This is the third post in the series of my summer reflections, and let me introduce you to Erica and Simon who were married on 24th July, 2010 at St Hilary’s Church Llandudno, and then on to the Imperial Hotel. Each wedding is different. Each wedding is a challenge in it’s own right, not only to get things technically right, but also to tell a story photographically, and artistically; to capture the feel of it and not just a series of pictures. This isn’t too hard if you become involved (just enough). It certainly wasn’t hard in Erica and Simon’s wedding. Erica and Simon are two amazing people, and so too were their friends and family. Take a look at some of their pictures:
This is the second of my reflections this on summer’s weddings. This one features Leeane and Steve who got married on 9th May, 2010 at the Guild Hall Conwy and their portraits were taken at Conwy Castle. This was a small but very stylish wedding, and again, this was all the more memorable because, as you’ll agree, they looked amazing:
Winter has arrived and the weddings have slowed down until December. I’m booked up throughout December so I thought I’d spend the next few weeks reflecting on some of this summer’s weddings. This is partly because I’ve changed my website, and have only recently started blogging so I want to make some of my pictures more visible to the couples who are planning their wedding, and also because I had such an amazing time.
It’s been a very busy summer where I’ve had the privilege of photographing an array of weddings with some amazing people, in some amazing locations. It really is a privilege to photograph a wedding. It is often described as the best day of your life, and to be chosen to spend that day with you; to capture the atmosphere and moments; the people and places; the laughter and the tears; to be immersed in the whole feel of the day (which is what I try to do), really is a privilege.
I’d like to start off with Bodelwyddan Castle and a couple that were married there this summer. Emma and Nathan, were married at Bodelwyddan Castle on 5th June, 2010, and then onto the Quay Hotel at Deganwy:
And then to the Quay Hotel Deganwy.
I was up fairly early this morning to meet Rachel and Dave in Ruthin. It was freeeezing so it took us a little while to warm up. This was a rehearsal in more ways than one for Rachel and Dave as they will be getting married in Lapland next month. All the best for your wedding. I had a great time this morning. Don’t you look amazing! Here are some of the pictures:
AND, after returning to Rachel and Dave’s home, Daisy tried to muscle in on some of the action … what a Diva!
A big congratulations to Emily and Simon. I have the pleasure of photographing their wedding which will take place on 16th July 2011 at Bylchau Church. I’m very much looking forward to your pre-wedding shoot and of course your wedding ….
I had the pleasure of meeting up with Laura and Rich for their pre-wedding shoot this afternoon. Laura and Rich will be married at St Eugain & St Peter’s Church Northop, and will have their reception at Northop Golf and Country Club, on 27th December 2010. I had a fantastic time with them. They are a lovely, easygoing couple, and I think you’ll agree that they look amazing. I’m looking forward to meeting you both again for your wedding:

I’m very much looking forward to photographing Anna and Richard’s wedding on 25th June 2011 at Trefnant Church and then the Faenol Fawr. Another lovely couple and fantastic locations. See you for your pre-wedding shoot ….
I was honoured with being asked to photograph Sian & Tom’s wedding on the 28th of October. After the ceremony they made their way back to Rhydonnen (Sian’s family home) for some photos – I had the most amazing time with them. They not only looked fantastic but they were happy to try pretty much anything I suggested end even suggested some of the shots themselves. I will post more on this wedding (including the amazing story of how they met) in a couple of weeks. In the mean time, here is a sneak preview of some of the pictures. I think you’ll agree that they look fantastic:
I had a wonderful time photographing Cher and David at their pre-wedding shoot in Betws Y Coed today. I drove through Betws Y Coed on the way to meeting them and the place looked so lovely that I couldn’t resist suggesting a change of location. It was lovely but very very cold. Cher and David will be married in Holy Trinity Church in Llandudno 14th May 2011 followed by their reception at Maenan Abbey. I very much look forward to their wedding. Here are some of the shots from today. Oh, and don’t they look amazing!!
A BIG congratulations to Sian and John who have booked me to photograph their wedding on 6th August, 2011 at St Marcellas in Denbigh.
I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Gwenno and Dafydd. It was an amazing day along with some amazing people.
As family, friends and guests will know, Dafydd and Gwenno will be travelling through Asia for three months following their wedding and should be back in time for christmas. They will preview their pictures then and want to release them for general viewing after they have seen them. So, you’ll have to wait a couple of months but you won’t be disapointed.
So, keep an eye on this blog or my website for more news about Gwenno and Dafydd
Hello and welcome to my new blog and my first post! I have been meaning to blog for a while now but never really had the time. The trouble is that I probably will never have the time unless I make it, so here goes!
The real aim of this blog is to complement my website by way of uploading up to date pictures and to keep in touch with the brides and grooms who have booked me and those whose wedding I have already photographed. Many keep in touch … why don’t you?
